Haka is a maori dance associated with the war shout that preceded a battle.
Its tribe had its own haka but the most famous comes from Te Rauparaha (1768-1849), chief of the Ngati Toa tribe. This haka is well known by the All Blacks National Rugby team. Te Rauparaha´s haka is:
Ka mate, ka mate (It is death, it is death)
Ka ora, ka ora (It is life, it is life)
Tenei te tangata puhuruhuru (Look at the dangerous man)
Nana nei i tiki mai
I Whakawhiti te ra (Who caused the sun to shine)
Upane, upane (In a row, keep in a row)
Upane, ka upane (The position, hold fast)
Whiti te ra (Into the sunshine)
